World War I

Since Key Stage 2, and to a lesser extent Key Stage 3, of the National Curriculum, are skills-based, the choice of theme within the mandatory core subjects is largely the prerogative of the teacher concerned. This being so it is unlikely that in 2012 the topic of World War I will feature currently on the list of possible subjects for the children to study.

However, as we get closer to the centenary of the outbreak of World War I, there will be a proliferation of commemorative material on the subject. Since Fovant hosted a large World War I military training camp, out of which came the famous ‘Badges on the Hill’, we decided to get in early in the hope that these worksheets, and teachers’ briefing notes, will meet with approval.

Feedback will be very welcome.
