What communications were there ?

Teachers’ Briefing Notes.

The electronic methods of verbal and pictorial communications, combined with equal advances in types of transport used by armies today, are obviously in stark contrast to what was available almost a century ago. Additionally large scale battles requiring huge numbers of combatants are a thing of the past. Consider a ‘Then and Now’ project. Small groups could take one of the pictures on these pages, consider what has changed, stayed the same or been developed since WW I, then give a presentation on their findings. (The Royal Flying Corps, formed in 1912, was not used as a form of troop transport at this stage).
