Obviously class discussion will initiate this subject during which the children will become aware that the ‘shapes’ are military badges. (don’t mention the word ‘badges’ until the children do). Chiselbury Ring was a place of refuge in times of trouble for people from an Iron Age village at Fifield a mile to the west. Interest in the names of the regiments will probably follow, after which the children will undoubtedly be ready for a hands-on activity along the lines suggested. Click here for regimental history.
